Zabar's Cream Cheese Spread
from Zabar's in New York City and published in New York Cookbook by Molly O'Neal

This is a nice oniony cheese spread for crackers or toasted bagels made at Zabar's in New York City. We often make this to serve as an appetizer for the holidays. Zabar's (ZAY-barz) is a Jewish grocery at 2245 Broadway and 80th Street, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City known for its selection of bagels, smoked fish, olives, and cheeses.

8 oz. cream cheese at room temperature
1/4 c. sour cream
Pinch of salt
Pinch of garlic powder
1/4 c. chopped scallion [or a little more]

Combine the cream cheese, sour cream, salt, and garlic powder in a large bowl and stir until well mixed and smooth. Stir in the scallions. Serve on crackers or toasted bagel rounds.

Makes about 2 cups [more like 1 1/2 cups]
