Beer Nuts

"Making your own snacks is a great way to save money. This is an easy recipe for beer nuts. Buy raw shelled peanuts in large quantities for the best price. You can double or triple this recipe, just use a larger pan. I like to use a cast iron skillet when I make this snack."

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 teaspoon maple flavor [not all recipes add this]
1 pound shelled raw peanuts (about 2 cups)
Salt

Combine all the ingredients in a heavy saucepan (cast iron is good for this). Cook until the liquid is gone (about 10 minutes). Don't scorch or burn the peanuts. When the liquid is gone, remove the peanuts from the pan immediately.

Spread the peanuts on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with salt. Bake for 15 minutes at 300 degrees. Stir the peanuts, and bake for another 15 minutes.

Enjoy your snack! Package any leftovers in an airtight container.
