1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup half and half
1/2 cup unsalted butter divided
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
2 bananas peeled and sliced (ripe, but not too soft)
1/2 cup pecans toasted and chopped

Heat a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.

Add the sugar, half and half, 1/4 cup of butter, salt and cinnamon.

Cook, stirring often, for 4 to 6 minutes, or until the mixture is slightly thickened.

Remove from the heat, and stir in the vanilla and remaining butter. Whisk for 1 minute or until smooth.

Gently stir in the bananas and pecans. Serve warm with whipped cream if desired.
