Cinnamon Sugar
When you are in the mood for a change from plain buttered toast for breakfast, Cinnamon Sugar adds that little bit extra. Best on white or whole wheat toast or English muffins.
The ideal ratio can vary depending on individual tastes, but a great baseline is "a ratio of about 1:4 for cinnamon to sugar." For example, if you're using a cup of sugar, add a ¼ cup of cinnamon.
If you're a big fan of cinnamon and want to give the cinnamon sugar more of a kick, opt for a "1:3 ratio" instead. More cinnamon will result in a more deeply spiced flavor profile, while more sugar will give greater opportunity for caramelization if cooking or baking.
3 or 4 parts granulated sugar, as desired
1 part ground cinnamon
Place sugar in a small bowl. Stir in cinnamon and mix thoroughly. Transfer to a jar or container with a tight-fitting cover. Lasts indefinitely.
Sprinkle on hot buttered toast, on cold, leftover rice served with milk, oatmeal, French Toast, apple sauce, etc.
