Salt Dough for Tree Ornaments

4 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 1/2 cups hot tap water

Stir water and salt together for one minute.
Mix in flour until absorbed.
Knead for 2 minutes.
Roll out on a lightly floured board to 1/4 inch.
Form into shapes with cookie cutters and/or mold as desired.
Make hole in top (for hanging) or place wire hanger into dough.
Place on foiled cookie sheet.
Bake at 325 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, until firm. Larger ornaments will take longer than smaller ones.
Let cool.

Use acrylic varnish on some to preserve their natural beauty.
Decorate others with acrylic paints.
Varnish after paint dries to enhance colors.
Be sure to cover both sides with varnish.
