"Rice Krispies" Marshmallow Treats

The recipe was invented in 1928 by Mildred Day and others in the home economics department at The Kellogg Company. It was created as a fund raiser-for the Camp Fire Girls, a nationwide American youth organization.

1/4 cup butter
7 - 10 oz. marshmallows (32 large or 3 cups miniature)
5 - 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Butter a 13" x 9" pan.

Melt the butter, then add the marshmallows, stirring until melted.

Remove from the heat and add the Rice Krispies, stirring until coated.

Press into prepared pan. Cut into squares when cool.
