White Chocolate Frosting

Homemade white chocolate frosting is decadent and velvety smooth—and something you want your guests to remember long after they’ve said their final goodbyes. And though this type of frosting is so luxurious it might cause your guests to think that the hostess spent a long time in the kitchen, it’s quite misleading. This homemade frosting is one of the easiest frosting recipes to make.

Easy White Chocolate Frosting

The easiest white chocolate frosting is made with a mere three ingredients: white chocolate, sour cream and vanilla. Simply melt two pounds of white chocolate in a double boiler, whisk in 1 ½ cups of sour cream and one tablespoon of vanilla. Cool until the frosting thickens enough to spread. This frosting spreads best on a sheet cake.

White Chocolate Frosting Recipe
This white chocolate frosting favorite is both sweet and buttery, with a subtle aroma and taste of chocolate.

8 ounces white chocolate, chopped fine
12 ounces cream cheese, softened
½ cup unsalted butter
1 cup powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
¾ teaspoon fresh lemon

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Do not boil the water, but keep a steady heat going until the chocolate melts. To prevent scorching or accidentally drying out the chocolate, watch the mixture carefully and stir often until smooth. Set the melted chocolate aside.

Using an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese and butter until fluffy. Add the vanilla and lemon. Beat in the white chocolate very slowly, one teaspoon at a time.

As soon as the chocolate has been added, begin adding the powdered sugar, one heaping tablespoon at a time.

Cool the frosting before applying.
