Faith's Mild Brown Sugar & Aspirin Facial Scrub

I made up this facial scrub recipe after reading about homemade facial scrubs and the benefits of aspirin for helping to clear up acne and blackheads. It is gentle enough for the face, yet there is enough scrubbing action from the brown sugar which does not completely mix in with the water.

6 aspirin
3 Tbsp. water
8 Tbsp. brown sugar

Put the aspirin and water in a small container. Mash up the aspirin until it dissolves. Add the brown sugar and stir until well mix. Put in a clean jar until ready to use. The brown sugar will settle in the mixture, so be sure to shake it before using.

As with other scrubs, it is a good idea to clean your face with soap and water before using the scrub. I usually pull my hair back with a headband. Then apply the scrub gently with your fingertips. The scrub is quite liquid so do this over a sink. Work it in all over your face focusing on any problem areas. Let the scrub dry for about 10 minutes. Rinse off with a washcloth and warm water. Pat dry. Apply skin lotion, if desired.

They say you should not apply a skin scrub any more often than every week. If your skin always looks red, you are overdoing it. For something you can apply nightly to problem areas, look at this recipe, Aspirin Mask for Healing Acne, Pimples, Rashes, and use it to spot treat.
