Faith's Apple Glazed Oven Baked Ribs
These ribs come out tender and nicely browned with a flavorful sauce due to the apple juice reduction as the ribs cook. The apple juice in the bottom of the pan keeps the ribs moist.
Pork spareribs
Basic Barbecue Rub, modified to your liking
2 or more cups of apple juice or cider
Lightly coat the ribs with the Barbecue Rub on both sides. Let the ribs rest for at least an hour, better yet overnight.
When ready to bake the ribs, preheat the oven to 250°.
Place the ribs, meaty side up, in a roasting pan. Pour the apple juice or cider on the ribs and bake for 4 - 6 hours until tender and nicely browned. Baste them with the apple juice every 30 minutes or so, adding more juice as needed to keep some juice in the bottom of the pan.
The ribs will have a crusty bark on the outside and will start to shrink away from the bone when they are done. If you prefer a moister rib, wrap the ribs in foil after the first 2 - 3 hours of baking - wait until the ribs get nicely browned before wrapping. The ribs will be moist and juicy throughout.
