Chex Mix
Add 2 tsp. hot pepper sauce for some heat, if desired. Chili powder is another option. Add to the margarine and Worcestershire sauce mixture. Cheese Nips and Goldfish crackers are good cheese cracker choices.
1 stick margarine
6 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp seasoned salt
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1 cup cocktail peanuts (or mixed nuts)
1 cup pretzels, broken up [or cheese crackers, corn chips such as Fritos, Bugles]
2 cups Corn Chex
2 cups Rice Chex
2 cups Cheerios (or use bagel chips, instead)
Preheat oven to 250. Melt margarine in a large roasting style pan. Stir in all of the worstershire sauce and salts.
Add ingredients and stir to coat, in this order: peanuts, pretzels, Corn Chex, Rice Chex, Cheerios.
The least absorbent parts of the recipe always go in first, so they can be coated and take up some of the liquid and so that the most absorbent ingredients (cheerios) don't get saturated.
Bake for an hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on absorbent paper to cool. Store in airtight container.
