Rum Swizzle

A Rum Swizzle is a rum-based cocktail often called "Bermuda's national drink". Icy drink mixtures with rum, first identified as swizzles and later as Rum Swizzles, have been mentioned in literature in a variety of locations since the mid 18th century.

For the rum, use 4 oz of Gosling's Black Seal Rum and 4 oz of Gosling's Barbados Rum for the typical Barbados recipe.

8 oz Rum
6 dashes Angostura Bitters
5 oz Orange Juice
5 oz Pineapple Juice
2 oz Falernum (or ¾ oz Grenadine)
2 Lemons
Orange slices and maraschino cherry for garnish

Mix ingredients except lemon in pitcher with crushed ice. [This has to be shaken in the next step.]

Squeeze the juice of the 2 lemons and add to the mix. Shake vigorously until a frothing head appears.

Pour into highball glasses. Garnish with a slice of orange and a cherry.

Serves 6.
